Excerpt: Most movies these days get spoiled before you ever see them. Not by your friends who inadvertently blurt out crucial parts of the movie, but by the producers themselves. Movie attendance is trending downward worldwide. Overall, ticket sales are down 20 percent since the peak over a decade ago, but on a per-capita basis, the decline is even steeper as the population has grown 10 percent since 2002. U.S. movie theaters had their worst attendance in nearly 20 years in 2014.
